SELECTION CRITERIA
The steering selects 50 students among the students at participating universities annually.
The selection criteria include: the student is enrolled at a participating university, the student has completed at least one year’s studies at his or her own university and the student is currently studying for his or her first university degree. When selecting students, consideration is given firstly to the student’s activity (accumulated old credits/number of months attended), secondly to motivational factors and thirdly to previous studies in the field of semiotics. The Network University of Semiotics management group strives to consider students representing various scientific disciplines when selecting students. The Network University Director can grant students of semiotics at the University of Helsinki special study rights for study courses to be agreed upon separately. The Director can also admit students from outside the Network University to complete courses either at the Open University, in the form of further education or based on international cooperation agreements.
Students whose research involves semiotics and who have been granted post-graduate study rights at a participating university can apply to the post-graduate study programme. Selected students must be able to include the Network University semiotics studies in their post-graduate study programme.
APPLICATIONS
Applications to study at the Network University of Semiotics can be made on a separate application form. Certified information on completed studies (transcript of studies or separate certificate) should be appended to the application.
